Brief Curriculum Vitae

Dr Carmen Induráin Eraso has been a lecturer in the Department of Human and Education Sciences (within the English Philology Section) at the Public University of Navarre for 25 years, since 1996. She has also been teaching at the Spanish Distance Education University (UNED) in Pamplona for 20 years. She is also a Speaking Examiner (Advanced level) of Cambridge University. She holds a Ph.D. degree in English Philology from the University of Zaragoza (Spain, 2005), where she also did a degree in French Philology.

She has taught different subjects since 1996: Morphology, Syntax and Semantics of the English Language, Literature in the Teaching of English as a Second Language, etc., Disciplinary Intensification in the ‘Master de Formación de Profesorado en Secundaria (Inglés), Inglés y su Didáctica (English Language and Methodology) in the course: Curso de Acceso a Grado, and currently, she teaches in the ‘Grados de Maestro’: English Language 1 and 2 in the Internationalization Programme and English Language 3 (in the specialization in English Language). She was the  coordinator of the former subject from 2019 to 2015 and has been coordinating English Language 3 since 2012. She has also tutorized the teaching placements or ‘Prácticas Escolares 2 y Prácticas Escolares 3’ of the Master and of the ‘Mención en Lengua Inglesa’. Furthermore, she has so far supervised 4 TFMs and 15 TFGs and been a member of the jury in three Doctoral theses. She has also held the position of Academic Secretary of the jury of the 'Pruebas de Capacitación Lingüística en Inglés' of the UPNA since 2017.

Her research field focuses on film and cultural studies of English speaking countries as well as Spain: on genre (especially the road movie and the border film, and on generic hybridization), gender, minorities, migration, transnational cinema and globalization, film and crisis and lately on the representation of hope in film). She is the author of A Culture on the Move: Contemporary Representations of the US in Road Movies of the 1990s (UMI ProQuest, 2006), and of a number of essays that have appeared in Beyond Borders. Re-defining Generic and Ontological Boundaries; American Mirrors: (Self)Reflections and (Self)Distortions; Generic Attractions: New Essays on Film Genre Criticism (Houdiard, 2010); American Secrets: The Politics and Poetics of Secrecy in the Literature and Culture of the United States (Fairleigh Dickinson University Press, 2011); Global Genres/Local Films: The Transnational Dimension of Spanish Cinema (Bloomsbury Academic, 2015); Transcontinental Reflections on the American West: Words, Images, Sounds beyond Borders (Portal Education, 2015) and in Film Journal, Atlantis, EIUC (Estudios Ingleses de la Universidad Complutense), ES (English Studies) and Príncipe de Viana journals. She has also participated in five research projects of the Spanish Ministry of Education (I+D) of the University of Zaragoza, the current one entitled: “Cinema and Hope: Social Structures of Feeling and their Representation in Contemporary Cinema ” and in international film and American Studies conferences (SCMS, Film and History, NECS, EAAS, SERCIA, AEDEAN, SAAS). She has been (since 2006) and still is a member of TEXTO, a research group at the UPNA. She has also participated in international film and American Studies conferences (SCMS, Film and History, NECS, EAAS, SERCIA, SAAS, AEDEAN, etc.). She held the position of coordinator of the Film Studies panel of AEDEAN International Conferences during the 2012-2016 period.

As regards her personal merits as a university lecturer, so far she has achieved 4 quinquenios docentes and one sexenio investigador evaluated positively by the ANECA agency.
