Introduction: Physical and logical structure of a computer. Operative systems.
Introduction to programming: Data types, control structures and modularity.
Programs for applications: speadsheet, project management, basical use of Internet.
R1. To identify the different components of both the logical and physical system of the computer.
R2. To understand the functionality of an operating system as a manager of the physical system of the computer.
R3. To handle the most common operating systems.
R4. To use the edition, compilation and execution tools to develop programs.
R5. To use the different control structures to develop programs.
R6. To use the different data structures to develop programs.
R7. To perform tests to validate the developed programs.
R8. To design a simple database.
R9. To develop queries to extract information from databases.
R10. To use a spreadsheet.
R11. To know informatics tools to plan engineering projects.
R12. To understand the WWW paradigm.
Methodology-Activities | Classroom tuition | Off-site classes |
A-1 Theoretical lessons | 30
A-2 Practical lessons | 30
A-3 Individual tuition | 2
A-4 Exams | 4 | |
A-5 Personal work | 84 | |
Total | 66 | 84 |
Learning outcomes | Evaluation system | Weight | Recoverable |
R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R10, R11 | Theoretical-practical exam. To obtain the final weighting mark you have to pass the 2 parts: 1/ programming and 2/Spreadsheet and databases | 50% | Yes |
R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R10 | Short exams during the lessons | 20% | Yes |
R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R8, R9, R10, R12 | Practical exam and/or evaluation of practical works | 30% | No |
The recovery evaluation will consist of an exam (mixture of theory and labs) that will recover the first and second parts. The final mark for those students who do not obtain 5 (over 10) in the recovery exam will be the one obtained in this exam (over 10). That is, this mark will not be weighted with that of the third part.
